A SERIAL burglar wanted by four police forces may be hiding in Merseyside.
Nicholas McCarthy, 27, is wanted by police in Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Northamptonshire.
Lancashire Police want to speak to McCarthy in relation to a burglary in Aughton, near Ormskirk, in November 2010.
An offender smashed through the patio doors of a property and made off with a haul of electrical equipment including an Imac computer, a 40 inch plasma TV and a Bose Hifi system.
The offender also stole an 18 carat gold necklace with a diamond and sapphire pendant.
McCarthy is also wanted on prison recall after being released on licence in December 2009.
He had been sentenced to 24 months at Mold Crown Court in November 2008 after convictions for burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and disqualified driving in North Wales.
He was subsequently sentenced for another burglary offence which ran concurrently.
His recall came in to force on March 24, 2010.
ECHO McCarthy is also wanted by Merseyside Police over a burglary in June 2010 and by Cheshire Police in connection with two burglary offences in September 2010.
mobile For news/sport/text ECHO to He is also sought by Northamptonshire Police in connection with an armed robbery in February 2010. McCarthy is originally from Kirkby and detectives believe he could be living back in the area. He is described as white and of medium to stocky build.
He speaks with a Liverpool accent.
DS Phil Bowerbank from Skelmersdale CID said: 'I would ask the public to be vigilant and report any sightings to the police - any details the public may have could be crucial.
'It is important that we locate McCarthy as soon as possible.
'As a force we have a high success rate of returning people to prison and use all methods to catch these people and to return them to serve the remainder of their sentence.'
