BASKETBALL

Paul Pierce scored 18 points, Kevin Garnett 16 and the Boston Celtics extended their winning streak to nine games by beating the Raptors, 90-77, at Toronto. Atlantic Division-leading Boston (20-2) matched its longest winning streak since March 16-31, 1993. * Tayshaun Prince scored 23 points and Antonio McDyess had 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons beat the Golden State Warriors, 109-87, at Auburn Hills, Mich. * Junior guard Eric Devendorf, the second-leading scorer for Syracuse, will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

BASEBALL

Youth baseball coach Mike Hinga said Derek Jeter knew where he was heading even as a talented, gangly 15-year-old. 'He had this New York Yankees gold necklace,' Hinga said at Jeter's induction ceremony Saturday into the Kalamazoo (Mich.) Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame. 'There was no doubt in his mind he was going to be a New York Yankee.'

BOXING

Australian Danny Green scored a unanimous decision over Stipe Drews for the Croatian's WBA light heavyweight title at Perth.

SOCCER

Kaka scored one goal and set up two more to lead AC Milan to a 4-2 victory over Boca Juniors in the Club World Cup final at Yokohama, Japan. It is a record fourth club world title for the European champions. * Manchester United extended its six-year unbeaten streak at Anfield, beating Liverpool, 1-0, in the English Premier League. Arsenal beat Chelsea for the first time in three years, 1-0, to maintain its narrow lead at the top the Premier League. * Inter Milan opened a seven-point lead in the Italian league with a 2-0 win at Cagliari.

WINTER SPORTS

Kikkan Randall of Anchorage, Alaska, became the first U.S. woman and second American to win a World Cup cross-country race when she defeated world sprint champion Astrid Jacobsen of Norway in the final meters of a 1.2-kilometer freestyle at Demino, Russia. Randall is the first American to win a World Cup cross-country race since Bill Koch in 1983. * At Alta Badia, Italy, Finland's Kalle Palander earned his third career giant slalom victory on the Gran Risa course and American Ted Ligety skied the fastest second run to finish fifth. * Olympic slalom champion Anja Paerson of Sweden won a women's World Cup super-G at St. Moritz, Switzerland, for her second victory in 24 hours. * Alexandr Zubkov of Russia drove his sled to victory in the four-man World Cup bobsled race at Lake Placid, N.Y., a year and a day after crashing on the course at the Olympic Sports Complex. The American sled piloted by Steven Holcomb was second. * At Igls, Austria, Armin Zoeggeler won a luge World Cup race for his second victory of the season.
