Computer image may identify man - The Herald

FORENSIC experts are to be drafted in to create a computerlikeness of the face of a dead man found on Skye two weeks ago in anattempt to identify the body.

The body was found in a secluded wooded area near the Clan DonaldCentre, Ardvasar, by two girls, and police said the man appeared tohave gone to lengths to conceal his identity.

Experts will use computers to reconstruct his face so thatpictures can be taken and the man's image circulated.

A post-mortem examination could not establish the cause of death. The man was thought to be in his 30s or 40s, was described as being6ft 2in with a barrel chest, and had receding mousy-brown hair withgrey streaks and a short grey-white beard. There were no distinctivemarks or tattoos.

Some of his clothes came from Marks & Spencer, but an extra largered T-shirt was bought locally. He was wearing size 10 Gritex GR1Sport hiking boots, olive chinos, and had a silver-coloured flat-link necklace around his neck.

In his jacket was a 1992 Ingersoll watch with a silver and gold-coloured link strap.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: 'It is unusual thatthe man had nothing that would point to his identity, no wallet, credit cards, not even a scrap of paper in his pocket.'
